California Woman Dies in Highway 30 Wreck

Mrs. Bess Lahnes aged 45 of Riverside California died at 3 45 p m Monday from injuries after a car plunged off Highway 30 twenty miles west of Cedar Rapids. Husband George Lahnes 45 injured with possible multiple fractures and serious condition. Harry Treat 53 also of River Sides suffered chest and shoulder injuries. Crame Bam Was also involved.

Passengers Transferred From Grounded Rotterdam

The Rotterdam with 450 passengers and 526 crew went aground near Morant Cays southeast of Kingston. The rescue ship S S Ariguani ferried the passengers to Kingston and was en route to Kingston Jamaica. The hurricane skirted Jamaica and Cuba, with 30 deaths in Cuba and widespread damage before moving toward Bermuda.
