Iowa holds steady as K-12 funding rises amid national declines
Iowa bucked a national funding trend, with state aid per student rising 20.6 percent from 2008 to 2015 and total K-12 state funding increasing to nearly 3.2 billion. The report notes most states cut funding post recession, risking class sizes and teacher staffing, while Iowa's Legislature approved a 1.1 percent increase this year. Local property tax allocations also rose, supporting school funding.
