In Oakdale Louisiana negotiators tied on a deal to free 26 Cuban inmates held hostages at the Federal Detention Center. The plan unraveled at signing time Friday as the prisoners balked leaving 26 captives still held. One hostage was released earlier and another evacuated after an attack. At Atlanta’s Federal Penitentiary officials hardened their stance as talks failed to progress.

She was jailed in Lee County. he is in solitary confinement awaiting escape charges. He had been serving a 25-year term for first degree robbery and attempted murder since 1978.
