Hospital costs vary widely across Iowa hospitals

A state panel reports hospital bills differ by up to 400 percent with baby delivery costs from 550 to 1800 dollars and tonsillectomies from 400 to 1750. East Iowa hospital charges for newborn and delivery in 1982 83

A published list shows charges by Eastern Iowa hospitals for newborn care and normal delivery from July 1, 1982, to June 30, 1983. The statewide averages were 639 dollars for newborn care and 1160 dollars for normal delivery, with hospitals ordered by city.
