David John Barnes age 22 of 1635 Park Towne Lane NE Cedar Rapids was killed on a county road near Ryan at 11 a.m. Friday in what officials ruled an accidental shooting. Sheriff Mike Barr said Barnes reached under his seat for a pistol after spotting a pheasant and it discharged fatally in the right temple. safety was not engaged. His body was found by Donald Mangold, his father in law, who had been following in another car. Barnes was born January 2, 1949, in Anamosa and was a high school graduate.
