Minnesota and New York led with 260,791 and 209,078 tests. Missouri and California followed. A record 49,932 cattle were designated for removal and slaughter, with a 2.8 percent reactor rate due to focused testing in high infection areas.

Moscow reports two protest letters by Soviet vice chairman M Bandura accusing Japanese and Manchukuo officials on the Chinese Eastern railroad of a reign of terror. He details twenty eight cases of rule violations abuse of workers rights and unprovoked physical attacks.
Clifford Heingardner a 37 year old Mal com man was released from the county jail after officials said no positive identification tied him to a series of Cedar Rapids home break ins. He had been brought from Montezuma by Deputy Sheriff Larry Condon and Detective W J Kudina.
Police in Cincinnati and detectives in Columbus linked a brutal barrel murder to jewels valued at about twelve thousand dollars. They pursued Joe Burns, a Brooklyn Los Angeles and Shelbyville jewelry auctioneer and Brunner's secretary, as investigators traced diamonds to an auction and a possible Dayton meeting.
Carlisle report says conflicting tips from Boston New York and Chicago fail to solve the babes in the woods death. Bus driver Paul White who transported three girls from New York to Harrisburg identified a slain woman in an Altoona station case as the same person. The mystery continues with no conclusive link established.
Three young Carlisle girls Lucille Norma and Louise ages about five seven and twelve were found dead with no signs of violence. An autopsy found no carbon monoxide or poison and the case remains unsolved. W H Cameron of Napa examined records to trace a blue shirt described as semi military found near the bodies of three murdered girls in Pennsylvania. He noted one shirt of that type was sent to Fort Des Moines on Oct 5, three dozen to Barksdale Field on Jan 6, 1934, and another shipment to H F Weinstein Co in Chicago on May 10.
DES MOINES IN September in a case mirrored by a shirt found near Pennsylvania victims the Iowa Bureau of Investigation dispatched agents to Fort Des Moines army post exchange after receiving word that a shirt of the same make had been shipped there.
