New York UPI report surveys diverse Christmas and holiday ideas for turkey stuffing. It notes old and new dressings from cornbread and oyster to apples, chestnuts, oranges, cranberries, and crumbled pretzels. Avanelle Day recalls a Rome Georgia family Southern style stuffing par boiled then baked separate from the bird.
The Silver Cross circle of the King's Daughters met Tuesday evening at Mrs. Edgar Shields's home on Thirty-third Street SE. Mrs. Richard Fields led devotions. Guests included Mrs. Dale Myers and Mrs. Tom Wong. The group delivered Thanksgiving day favors to a local nursing home.
Ceremonials were held by Camp Fire units on Tuesday. The Ta-Wa-Ki-Ya group met at Mrs L S Buchanan s home with Mrs Edward J Koza assisting as they delivered scanned fruit to a local family. The A-Wa-Te- Ki-We group at Mrs Norman Wallace s home awarded honor beads and 3 year pins to several members. The I-Yo-Pta group held a council fire at Christchurch with jade torch bearing and firemaker ranks awarded. Five year pins were given to Carol Compton and Linda Welty. Guests included Happy Blue Bird group members and Thanksgiving favors were given to the Home for Aged Women by A-You-Tak-Kan-Ya. Shona-O-Ki-Ya group members prepared a Thanksgiving dinner under Mrs Elmer Rompot s leadership at 2001 Jst SW.
At a small social gathering, guests included Mrs. Herman Frueh Jr. and Mrs. Lumir Zitek as the event highlighted the speaker's rank and community ties.
Cedar Rapids Duplicate Bridge club master point play Tuesday at the Roosevelt produced North South winners Mrs. Ray Gorman and Mrs. Alex H. Hallgren. Other top pairs included Jay Hesser with Clayton Mossman, D. W. Dunhaver with C. J. Rasdal, R. W. Water with Sidney G. Blencoe, and James E. Schawl with Dean Anderson. East West winners were Michael Engel and Lewis Barnett, followed by George Venis with Lena Hodgin, A. C. Schmieder with Amana’s partner, Grace Eyman with Harry A. Fox, and Tom Kent with Roy Pitkin.
Mr and Mrs J T Thom as of 1509 Bave NE plan an open house Friday to mark their 58th wedding anniversary. Their children include H V Nelson Crystal Lake IL Mrs Mike Shearer Minneapolis and Mrs Mary Fahl and Ted Thomas. They have 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The George Kellys marked their 50th wedding anniversary Monday. Their children are Virgil of Van Horne, Mrs. Lynn Kaeberle of Minnesota, and Mrs. Dick Driscoll of Kansas.
The Secretary of Coya said Tuesday that Congresswoman Coya Knutson’s husband withdrew a 200000 suit accusing Kjeldahl of alienation of affections and slander. Kjeldahl denied dropping. Fitzgerald insisted the suit stood and denied being fired.
Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco were named honorary New York City citizens at a state dinner at the Lotos Club. Mayor Wagner welcomed them, and the couple, once Grace Kelly, planned to spend Thanksgiving with her parents in Philadelphia before touring the United States for about a month.
Eastern Iowa chapter gathered Tuesday at the Hiltbrunner salon with Mrs. Richard Angerer and Mrs. Keith Wells as hosts. Kenneth Fosnacht and Irene Jass performed organ selections. Special prizes went to Hortense Rank Irene Wet ten and Hazel Fosnacht. Plans were made for a Christmas party on December 13.

Clifford Payne married at St Patrick’s in Anamosa with Rev. J A McMahon. Dorothy McClure and Paul Robert O’Brien tied the knot at Immaculate Conception in Van Horne with plans to reside in Cedar Rapids and Monticello respectively.

Mr and Mrs Charles H Yoch will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house this Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Friends are invited. The Gazette previously listed the date as last Sunday in the November 23 issue.
Frank and Mary Slezak celebrate six decades of marriage after tying the knot on November 23, 1898. A Thanksgiving Day dinner will honor the couple at the home of their son-in-law and daughter James and anita Callan at 1431 Fifth Avenue SE.
Mr and Mrs Tim Shea of 150 Eighteenth Street SW Cedar Rapids returned Monday evening from New York City after a weekend visiting relatives. Accompanying them were Mr and Mrs Mike Shea who stayed in New York for Thanksgiving.

Miss Helen Bowdish daughter of Mr and Mrs Arland Bowdish Central City married Marvin M Lentner son of Mr and Mrs Emil Lentner Marion at St Josephs Catholic Church Marion. Rev William H Blessington officiated at 11. The gown featured Chantilly lace and nylon tulle with Queen Annes collar. A jeweled lace coronet topped her fingertip veil. Cascade of white roses. Catherine Lentner maid of honor and Donald Morrison best man. Ushers David Nietert and William Lentner. Dinner at Ross Steak House followed. Bride employed by Iowa National Mutual Insurance Co. Lentner attends Iowa State College. They will reside in Ames.
