Bernard Finnegan, 34, of 1246 avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, suffered a flesh wound under his left arm Saturday morning when he accidentally discharged a .410 shotgun while rabbit hunting two and a half miles east of Marion. Alone, he was climbing through a fence with the gun in front. A heavy sheepskin coat absorbed the blow, preventing more serious injury. He went to St Luke's hospital and was released after treatment.

Three city officials announced that thirty four typhoid cases reported to Cedar Rapids health authorities all traced to a card party at the Cedar Rapids Gas Company on Oct 24 1938.
