Explosive Central City Blaze Ties Up Seven Departments
A storage building at Iowa Gold Destributing Environmental Services in Central City burned for most of Thursday sending one firefighter to St Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids with a possible life threatening condition. Firefighters from seven departments battled explosions as crews used flame retardant foam and urged residents to close doors and windows amid smoky conditions. The Linn County Sheriff Office and Central City Fire Department lead the investigation with State Fire Marshal Office assistance.
