Stranded Iowa Climbers Rescued in Andes Thanksgiving
Six climbers five from Eastern Iowa and one from Utah were rescued after a week stranded on Mount Mercedario in the Andes. Argentine National Gendarmerie and Iowa City physician Chuck Huss led the rescue which reached the team at noon local time. Families said the climbers are in good health and will descend today. Dell Richard of Iowa City said his son John is among the group and the Embassy in Buenos Aires relayed the news.
