Keokuk Thanksgiving Armory Blast Memory Lingers
Survivors recall the 1965 Keokuk armory gas blast at Swing Easy Square Dance Club. Seven died, 21 burned, 40 injured as a basement gas leak fed flames into the dome. Rescue crews pulled victims from the wreckage while communities aided with blood plasma and nurse burn centers.

A non profit Guidos Youth Foundation runs an all teen nightclub in Monticello for 14 to 18 year olds. The club features non alcoholic drinks, dancing and socializing with volunteers and parents helping at the door. Teens describe Guidos as a fun, safe place to meet friends and enjoy music, with events and growing attendance each Friday night.

Cedar Rapids Public Library will host three free film programs in December in Beems Auditorium. On December 6 and 13 at 10 30 a.m. preschool programs will show winter and December holiday themes.
