Two Girls Start Blaze in Dubuque Jail Cell
Two young prisoners Jane Olsen and Marlene Duncan, both held for an armed cab robbery, started a fire by tearing apart mattresses and placing them near a wall in the second floor matrons lockup. Smoke forced fire crew actions and windows were broken to vent the blaze before authorities detained two accompanying young men, James Hill and George Austin. The four cases are pending.

Iowa Boy 16 Killed in Thanksgiving Crash
In Cass county near Massena, Ronald Lee Eden, 16, of Cumberland, died after a two car collision on Highway 92 west of town during Thanksgiving travel.
