Cedar Rapids and Linn County Solid Waste Agency ends cash credits

The Cedar Rapids Linn County Solid Waste Agency will discontinue annual cash credits to Cedar Rapids Marion Linn County and 14 smaller jurisdictions. The move costs Cedar Rapids 108186 dollars Marion 21878 dollars and Linn County 22286 dollars annually with broader budget cuts and rising tipping fees. The agency plans to raise wood and compost fees to twenty dollars per ton next year while eliminating two staff roles and ending a planning contract.
