Thanksgiving Parade and Charity Mark Modern Observance
Americans mark Thanksgiving with parades and protests as stars visit homeless shelters and activists are remembered. In Philadelphia crowds cheered the 81 year old parade on Benjamin Franklin Parkway while Macy’s parade in New York showcased balloons and floats. The day also saw charity dinners led by Hosea Williams in Atlanta and contributions from Sean Combs and Gov. Roy Barnes. In Los Angeles Edward James Olmos helped at the Fred Jordan Mission with around 1 000 diners. Men cooked at Thomas Baptist Church in Little Rock for the first time. In Baltimore Bea Gaddy hosted a large turkey meal for the city. Native communities held events in Colorado and Massachusetts to honor history and resilience.
