Hall grant boosts theater campaign
The Hall Foundation awarded $300,000 to the Cedar Rapids Community Theatre for its Spotlight on Tomorrow renovation drive, bringing the $985,000 goal within reach. CRCT leaders, including Horace G. Hedges, expect to complete the campaign by March and open next fall in the Iowa Theatre, now planned as the troupe’s permanent home with a 500 seat mainstage, rehearsal space, studios, and offices. Darrell Morf of the Hall Foundation stressed the gift’s impact on downtown Cedar Rapids. The foundation, established in 1953 by Howard and Margaret Hall, has funded various community programs. A city bond hearing on industrial revenue bonds to acquire the Iowa Theatre is set for Dec. 9.

Man exposes himself to two schoolgirls in Cedar Rapids
