The Gazette reports Cedar Rapids will begin late January on Glenbrook, a 100 unit HUD Section 8 complex for low income families on an 8.4 acre site at First Ave West and Johnson Ave. Phillip Gold of North American Development Corp said financing now secured after three years, including a $3.4 million 40 year loan and a 74 percent rate. The project uses a 40 year HUD grant and will create 14 buildings with four one bedroom two bedroom three bedroom and four bedroom units each. Cedar Rapids currently has 564 Section 8 units, and this marks the first new family focused project under the program.
