A weekend storm left Iowa highways packed with snow and ice sparking numerous accidents. Patrol urged minimal travel as most roads became extremely hazardous with 20 to 30 mph winds creating light drifts. Several towns reported 2 to 3 inches of snow and a second storm was forecast to bring more snow and colder conditions statewide. Minor crashes sent two people to hospital. Mrs. Carl Beck and her son Richard suffered injuries near Mt. Vernon. About 50 trucks were halted at Lisbon as drivers refused to continue.

Chapman admitted shoving West after a basement FBA club pitch game over 25 cent stakes, saying West cheated. police said West was found dazed and bleeding, later treated with plasma. Chapman was also fined 25 dollars and costs for disturbing the peace and held for justice court on the state charge.
