Cedar County Organizes Beef Cattle Feeders Association
Cedar County organizes a Beef Cattle Feeders Association with 42 cattlemen meeting in Tipton. Fred Hinkhouse of West Liberty named president, Ralph Wingert vice president, Frank Thomson secretary treasurer, with Amos Suchomel and Fr. Bachman as directors. The group aims to study feeding and marketing factors and prep for Agricultural Adjustment Administration oversight, as Iowa's twelfth such county chapter. Emmett Gardner and Rex Beresford advised on market outlook, noting a short corn crop and government price supports may improve feeder economics, but producer outlook remains uncertain amid ample feeder cattle supply and fluctuating fat cattle prices. Beresford warned of potential spring glut and possible government action similar to prior programs.
