Iowa City house fire causes $15000 in damage
A Thursday blaze at 716 Fairchild St in Iowa City caused $15,000 in damage to a residence. Firefighters arrived at 5:17 p.m. and found smoke from the roof peak with fire in the kitchen wall and attic space. No injuries occurred as crews contained the fire in 21 minutes and continued investigating the cause.

Public safety: Iowa City woman jailed after marijuana found
Police aided a 19 year old woman identified as Jaslin Turner banging on her apartment door at 29 Burlington St. They found two potted marijuana plants, grow lights, a grinder and an electronic scale during a search. Turner faces charges of controlled substance violation among others.
