Nebraska imposes 30 day age limit on safe haven law
Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman signed a measure adding a 30 day age limit to the safe haven law, making Nebraskathe 14th state with such cap. The bill, approved 45-3, targets adolescents abandoned at state hospitals and ends a practice of leaving children up to age 17. Hospital officials described distress as youths were left behind.
