Diesel leak soils trout stream near Swiss Valley Park
About 40 gallons of diesel spilled from a bulldozer at an excavation site into Catfish Creek near Swiss Valley Park southwest of Dubuque. The spill damaged the stream’s area and led to a notice of violation for the contractor and owner for failing to report the spill and for lacking a storm water permit. The lower creek segment holds stocked trout while the upper segment hosts natural brown trout reproduction.
