McNiel to Lead Grant Wood Educational Services Division

Grant Wood Area Education Agency board approved hiring Robert McNiel to direct the educational services division. McNiel, current principal at Grant Wood Elementary, Cedar Rapids, will start January 9 at 39000 annually, replacing John Cordes who resigned last March. Linda Nassif-Teague was appointed to director district 8, filling Kathryn Gutz’s unexpired term through October 1985.

Duck hunter found drowned near Muscatine in double tragedy

In Muscatine County two East Moline men vanished after a hunting trip. Richard Shetler, 30, was recovered from the Mississippi River around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Everett Weston, 41, remains missing as investigators plan to resume search after a Sunday disappearance.
