Soviets seek early date for arms control talks

Growth slows to 1.9 percent third quarter GDP

U S economic growth from July to September expanded at a 1.9 percent annual rate, the weakest showing since the last recession. The drop followed 10.1 percent in Q1 and 7.1 percent in Q2, with officials warning of unemployment and recession risk while predicting a rebound next year.

James Klindt, a Davenport chiropractor, plans to appeal his second degree murder conviction for the March 1983 death of his wife Joyce.
