Forecast warns heavy snow in extreme northwest with four inches or more by Wednesday evening. Rain changing to snow in the east overnight and ending Thursday with colder conditions in the east. Noons show 37 degrees Tuesday with a low 33 and a high 36 Monday.
Degree day totals show 959 current year to date through November 20, with last year at 798 and a normal total of 6 631. Fourteen Grinnell college students joining a Washington peace fast breakfasted with Cyrus Eaton at Acadia Farms in Cleveland. Eaton praised the students as the future and they toured the estate’s Short horn cattle. Cornell students prepared to depart for Washington to join the protest as the Cornell Student Government Association endorsed the demonstrations against nuclear testing.
David Morse American director general of the International Labor Organization announced his resignation in Geneva. He has led the ILO for 13 years since 1948 and was unanimously re elected in 1957 for a final five year term. Morse will stay until next spring then return to the United States. He cited twenty five years of military and public service and a wish to resume private citizenship at home.
President Kennedy and Chancellor Adenauer reportedly made steady progress toward a joint approach for future Berlin negotiations with Russia. In private White House discussions they agreed any decisions require further talks with British and French leaders. They began a new round of talks Tuesday after separate interpreter sessions.

Davenport reports a fatal incident as 71 year old Harry Siemsen, a widower, died from smoke inhalation after a fire at his home on Tuesday. Firefighters battled the blaze and authorities are investigating the cause.
Two sailors aboard the cruiser Helena, Seaman Darrell Eatwell 20 of Mingo Jr and Seaman Kenith L Van Luven 20 of Sault Ste Marie Mich, died attempting to rescue a buddy in a void tank. Eatwell reentered the tank to help Van Luven asphyxiation caused by unknown reasons was investigated.
Harry Bennett Wright 75, of Cedar Rapids and former McDonald Stevenson Ford salesman, died Monday after a brief illness. Born April 22, 1896 in Lake City, he wed Florene Nichols in 1919. Survived by wife, daughter Beverly Scrivner, three sons, seven grandchildren, three brothers, and a sister. Funeral Friday at Chapel of Memories Cedar Memorial. burial Cedar Memorial. Emelie Anna Pose widow of Charles Pose and Cedar Rapids resident for 33 years died Monday after a brief illness. Born September 7 1888 in Luzerne she came from Boone to Cedar Rapids. Surviving are brother Albert Radeke Wabasso Minnesota and six stepbrothers. She was a member of St Mark s Lutheran Church Martha circle and the Women s auxiliary of St Luke s Hospital. Services will be at Turner Chapel at noon Wednesday with Rev Richard W Engstrom. Burial Cedar Memorial. Friends may call at the chapel.
Mrs. C. C. Racine, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died in Pontiac Michigan on Monday after leaving Cedar Rapids four years ago. Survived by her husband a son and four grandchildren.
Bernice Z Sears died Monday at Osage Beach Missouri after a sudden illness. Born February 3 1904 in Anita she married Ronald Sears September 29 1924 in North English. Survived by husband one daughter Mrs Charles Decker Cedar Rapids two sisters Mrs Clara Larson West Branch and Mrs Marie Baumgartner Grand Marais Minnesota one brother William Rose West Branch and two grandchildren. She belonged to the Osage Beach Methodist church. Services at Chapel of Mem.
The Rev. John Wheatley will be memorialized with funeral services at 1 30 Friday. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial. Friends may visit at Turner Chapel after 11 Thursday.
Ruth Barcus Zavoral of Cedar Rapids died Monday after a long illness. Born March 8, 1905 in Indiana, she lived in Cedar Rapids 35 years and is survived by husband Joe, a daughter Mrs. Ralph Hal, mother Celia Barnes, two sisters Thelma Mitchell and Mrs. James Mayes, and two brothers Ira and Lawrence Barcus. Services at Brush chapel Wednesday at 3 30 by Major J E LaLone. Burial Cedar Memorial. Friends may call at the chapel.

A Marine AAC Skyhawk crashed into two houses in Kailua Oahu killing a Marine pilot and a 7 year old boy. Four others were injured including Coast Guard Cmdr Frank Schmitz and his wife. The second Skyhawk landed safely as officials investigated the crash near Kaneohe Bay.
Verne Lewis a state department official proposing line cuts found all three of his office outside lines closed the next day. The department newsletter said he now uses a public pay phone for calls.
The ruling Communist Party orders removal of the giant Stalin statue in Prague and to erase Stalin’s name from streets and enterprises. President Antonin Novotny backs the move, noting Gottwald’s complex legacy and urging his body be moved from the city mausoleum.
Frank Lasher of Idaho pled guilty to violating the state education code for printing phony diplomas on a portable press. He faces up to five years in prison and at least a $1,000 fine. sentencing is set for December 18. Lasher operated a Western university in Boise and earned thousands yearly, owning 15 cars and property in several towns.
Dick Clark, television personality and host of American Bandstand, was granted a divorce in Philadelphia on Tuesday. He is 31 and his estranged wife 30. they have one son. Official papers were impounded and grounds not disclosed.
Ridgeway resident 18 year old Jerry Armstrong was arrested Monday and charged with larceny. He received a 30 day county jail sentence for a gas theft from the Winnebago county garage.
Arresting officer was Sheriff Robert Hitesman. The brief item notes a location near Kendallville involving Ridgeway and a rock quarry with the sheriff's name cited.
Police kept armed guards in Terry Jo Duperrault's hospital room after Harvey's death as investigators questioned his account of the Bluebelle wreck. The coast guard said the 60-foot ketch lies more than 700 fathoms under water and could never be located.
Iowa City residents can already dial Tiffin and Solon directly. Beginning Monday Sharon Center and Kalona will have dial tele phones and will be able to dial Iowa City direct. Roy Williams, Iowa City Bell Telephone Co. manager, said new directories are now being delivered.
Lindale Plaza extends hours for the holiday season. Beginning Friday all stores open at 10 a.m. instead of noon and stay open Saturday evenings until 9 p.m. Weekday hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 30 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday December 23 hours run 9 30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
