A Des Moines survey shows 72.1 percent of Iowa residents back a $1 voluntary checkoff on state income tax forms to fund the state museum and history projects. David Crosson of the State Historical Society notes the checkoff is not a proposal, just one funding option alongside admissions and other revenues.
