United Airlines strike averted before Thanksgiving

United Airlines, the nation’s largest carrier, reached a tentative contract with flight attendants subject to ratification. Kirkwood's Ballantyne Dies at 60 in Colorado Springs

Dr Selby Ballantyne 60 superintendent of Kirkwood Community College died of a possible heart attack in Colorado Springs where he was attending a conference for college presidents. He led Area 10, later Kirkwood, from 1966 and was its only superintendent. Ballantyne was born in 1917 in Albia and held degrees from Iowa State and Drake University, with a long career in Iowa education.
