Courthouse Orders 13 Drunk Driving Fines Delinquent
Law officers on Tuesday were ordered to bring in 13 men lagging in monthly payments on drunk driving fines. Court records show overdue installments dating back years. District judges permit down payments of 25 to 100 dollars and monthly 25 or 50 dollar installments. If payments fall behind, defendants may be jailed to serve the remaining balance.
Suspended Terms to Two Linn County Men
Two men received suspended ten year prison terms in Linn district court on forgery charges. Gerald E. Hartley of 653 Twentieth Avenue SW pled guilty to passing a $91 worthless check at a supermarket and was sentenced by Judge B. M. Maxwell to ten years at Fort Madison penitentiary with the term suspended on good behavior. Theodore W. Croy of 927 Fourteenth Avenue SW pled guilty after originally denying guilt for passing a forged $142 check at a service station. Judge Charles Penningroth paroled Croy from a prior ten-year sentence.

Burglars Take $25 and Gun From Coral Market
Four miles west of Iowa City on highway 6 the Coral fruit market was burglarized Monday evening. Police believe burglars entered the rear door by breaking a panel and releasing a bar, taking about $25 in cash and an over and under 410-22 shotgun. All tracks were covered by snow.

Aurora Farmer Dead in Barn Probably Suicide
Robert Steele 65 of Aurora was found dead in his barn by neighbor Richard Wright. A 12 gauge shotgun lay beside him and authorities call it a death by own action. Survivors include his wife and one son. Body at Krussel funeral home in Lamont.
