Grocer’s waste fuels local food bank drive
Volunteers from Sharon United Methodist Church’s food bank collected damaged but consumable foods from area stores. The haul included five boxes of canned goods, four sacks of dried potatoes, and 60 pounds of hamburger to aid needy residents near 18th Avenue and Ninth Street SW. Dozens of stores reportedly salvage damaged items, donating some and discarding others, with charity groups coordinating further distributions.
