Blouin invites opponent to thank you party mix up dates

Cedar Rapids Congress member Mike Blouin sent a long handwritten invitation for a Pre-Holiday Thank-You party to Tom Riley, who defeated him by about 2,500 votes. Riley replied with humor, noting two dates in the invite and offering to attend on the 18th if that is correct. Blouin then released four date options for local gatherings in Allamakee Clayton Fayette Winneshiek Dubuque Clinton and Cedar counties and Linn.

Michigan Sues Prison Inmate For Room and Board

Michigan files suit against Charles Vance Frum under the Prison Reimbursement Act of 1935 to bill him 12.14 dollars per day for room and board while jailed for receiving stolen property. Most prisoners are exempt, but a few who can pay are pursued despite protests from corrections officials.

Waterloo Policeman Accused of Breakin

Waterloo officer Patrolman Jack Kemp 35 a six year veteran was held on 10000 bond on charges of breaking and entering. Two Hart in C R Crashes

Arthur Harman, 31, treated and released after his motorcycle collided with Gail Driscoll, 39, who was charged with improper left turn. Harman ticketed for license restrictions. The crash occurred at Johnson Avenue and Wiley Boulevard NW. Sandra Phillips, 29, treated and released after a collision at Highway 149 and Trent Street SW. Deborah Zimmmerman, 17, involved. Phillips charged with improper entry into a stop or yield. Bethel Wright, 61, in good condition at Mercy Hospital after a two car crash near Toddville. Yvonne Fuller, 54, Toddville, charged with failure to yield right of way.

Alcohol Drug Program Merger Committee Delayed

A Linn county health center planning panel postponed the Cedar Rapids merger effort for alcohol and drug treatment programs for another week. The group, aiming to advise Gov Ray and the Iowa legislature, seeks Mercy hospital detox staff input and awaits Mercy participation, with meetings set to gather further information from Mercy hospital, Grant Wood Area Education Agency, and Cedar Rapids police.

Danish Book World Theater Hearing Delayed to December

The city council pledged to grant a theater permit after zoning compliance and a certificate of occupancy, despite revoking the prior OC. Bloomfield Man In Critical Condition After Horse Ride Incident

David O. Bankson a 30 year old Bloomfield man remains in critical condition at University hospitals in Iowa City from injuries in a horse riding accident Saturday. His wife Susan Rinderknecht Bankson is the daughter of John and Mrs. Rinderknecht of 2446 Mallory Street SW.
