The Marion building department issued a permit for a 50 by 200 foot steel warehouse for the Marion Feed and Grain firm on Fiftieth street with G and R Construction Co. of Springville as contractor. Also approved was an eight-plex at 1325 Meadowview Drive by Don Mark costing about 50 112 dollars. Additional permits include Executive Construction at 445 Westover Road for 26 422 dollars Copper Construction Co. at 2040 Highview Drive for 13 804 dollars and numerous other small projects across Marion with costs ranging from 135 to 8 064 dollars.

Ashley J. Hill 71 of Forest City died Thursday in a Marion nursing home. Born June 16 1900 in Portland Iowa he was a lawyer in Forest City for 40 years and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Lions Club and Forest City Masonic lodge. Survivors include his wife Ethel, son Dr Cameron J Hill, two daughters and seven grandchildren. Services 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Forest City with burial at Forest City.

Rights cases seek city counsel for complainants
The Cedar Rapids area Council on Human Relations urged the Cedar Rapids human rights commission to provide legal counsel for complainants in public hearings instead of the city attorney handling the cases. The move followed a report from Mrs Sue Appert about a public hearing on her claim that General Mills Inc denied her a position due to her sex. The commission found General Mills did not engage in sex discrimination as a policy.
