Udder Washing Boosts Milk Yield
Hineman Ames Proper washing of udders increases milk production by ten to twenty percent. A warm wet cloth stimulates letdown before milking, and the milker should start within one to two minutes. Stop milking when the milk finishes, typically in three to four minutes, or risk remaining milk and possible drying up. If milking lasts beyond six to seven minutes after washing, milk may be reabsorbed.
