General selling in grain futures followed news from Korea hinting a cease fire, with wheat down 1% to 1.5 cents, corn 1 to 1.5% lower, oats steady, rye down about 1% to 2, soybeans 1.44 to 1% lower. lard down 3 to 18 points as traders price in potential armistice progress.
Fragmentary textile and commodity prices show No 4 sew items and No 5 yellow goods with mixed rates per cwt and nominal prices. Several figures appear garbled, including per cent and dollar values, hindering full interpretation of pricing signals.
Unofficial state market estimates show cattle around 15,000 head hogs about 16,000 and sheep near 3,000 for Monday trading. Stronger demand noted in early trading with price indicators mixed across livestock categories.

Sioux City cattle market steady Monday with salable supply about 1,200 head. US cattle futures and USDA notes show bulk of westerns held for Monday, demand steady as buyers await bids.
Cedar Rapids hog market saw prices fall about 25 cents on Saturday, with delivered hogs at Cedar Rapids plant receiving higher quotes. The report lists numerous price points by weight class for good butchers and packers, plus cattle, calves, sheep, hay and straw, poultry, and assorted wholesale fruits and vegetables.
New York stocks drifted in extremely dull Saturday trading with only small moves. Total volume was about 400000 shares as the market showed little direction and few notable movers appeared on the tape.
Hog market report from Ottumwa shows price ranges by weight class. Heaviest hogs 450 to 500 pounds fetch about 14.00 dollars, 360 to 400 pounds around 15.00, 300 to 550 pounds at 13.00. Sows 270 to 300 pounds bring 16.25, 330 to 360 pounds at 16.00, and 300 to 330 pounds at 15.50 per hundredweight.
BERKELEY UP The University of California has dropped its loyalty oath for employment after months of controversy. The board of regents voted against the non-Communist affidavit requirement for the second time within a month, ending the dispute over academic freedom concerns.
Seattle AP reports 1,410 Far East rotation troops arrived aboard a navy transport. Among them are Cpl. Keith G. McKinstry of North English and Sgt. James R. Van Auken of Columbus Junction, both Eastern Iowans.
Edward Berns 63 of Strawberry Point died Friday afternoon of a heart attack while pheasant hunting with his brother Marvin on a farm four miles east of Strawberry Point. Survivors include his wife two daughters three brothers and three sisters. Services set for Tuesday at 9 30 a m in St Marys church.
Joyce Sampica, 17, of Marion was treated for head cuts at St Luke's hospital after a 3 a.m. Saturday crash on First avenue E at Twenty eighth street. Her car, driven by Donald Stuefen of 413 Eighth avenue SE, struck a pole. police said he apparently fell asleep. Another passenger, Miron Stuefen of 627 Third avenue SW, was not injured. Ray Wickham returned home from Cedar Rapids hospital after several weeks as a patient. Lt. LaVeen T. Larson was acquitted by a general court martial at Selfridge Air Force Base of seven charges alleging mistreatment of guardhouse prisoners. The seven-officer trial board took one hour and 40 minutes to reach its verdict as Larson expressed relief and a wish to transfer and resume flying duty. his home is listed as Galva, Iowa.
Lucas county deputy sheriff Robert Glen Chapman and Chariton justice of the peace Oren Stewart Randall were indicted in federal court for mailing a letter to Justice of the Peace W. J. Schmich of Carroll. The letter claimed a National Justice of Peace Association with Chariton headquarters offered a $5 join fee and a 25 percent cut of accounts collected, aiming to defraud through false pretenses.
A total of $1470 has been pledged to the Cornell college Campus Chest drive in MT. VERNON with $500 raised at a faculty auction and $387 paid to date. Pledges are due by January 15, benefiting five off campus charities including the American Friends Service Committee, United Negro Scholarship Fund, World Student Service Fund, and the Tuberculosis and Cancer societies.

El Kahir Shrine in Iowa initiated a class of 64 Eastern Iowans with a public ceremony. Davenport police hunted an armed masked bandit who robbed a dairy on Highway 61 two miles west of town Friday night and fled with about 20 dollars.

Davenport report says Lorena McAdams, 63, a widow, scrubs floors and does odd jobs to fund her son Clifford McAdams's defense against a new larceny charge. Clifford, 28, was convicted Oct 30 in Princeton, Illinois, amid claims of frame by another man. Watson, co-defendant, implicated McAdams in July jewelery robbery. he faces trial next year.
