The Defense Department announced that Master Sgt. Clifford L. Ryan was killed in action in Korea. He was married to Helen E. Ryan of Wilton Junction and served in the U S Army.

A 14-year-old Ryan Fisher of near Manchester lost his right arm below the elbow in a corn picker accident on his father's farm. He was trapped for about 30 minutes before cutters were removed to free him. He remains at Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

Mr and Mrs Robert Hense of Toledo Ohio announce the birth of a daughter Anne Louise on November 16 year end note lists Hense as son of Mr and Mrs Harry Hense.
William DeFoe 85 a retired Shellsburg undertaker and civic leader died Friday at 10 a.m. after a stroke. He helped organize Shellsburgs first volunteer fire department and promoted a consolidated school. Surviving are his wife two daughters two grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Shellsburg Presbyterian Church.
Gov. William Beardsley tentatively sets next Wednesday for the start of budget hearings to prepare recommendations for the 1951 legislature. Beardsley and State Comptroller Ray Johnson will meet with department and institution representatives. He pledges to operate state government within current income.
Seoul AP reports two cabinet ministers quit after the national assembly demanded the entire cabinet resign. The assembly has refused to confirm three successive prime ministers appointed by President Rhee.
The defense department identified 38 casualties in a Friday list. It shows 35 killed in action or died of wounds and three injured in accidents.
Des Moines 28 year old Mrs Lovela Wolfskill pled innocent to arson charged after police said she admitted placing wadded newspapers against windows and igniting them with matches at three residences. Bond set at 2000 dollars with hearing scheduled for December 4. Detectives say she also admitted starting a chair on a porch but claimed it was an accident.
