Linn County General Assistance cuts strain aid programs
Linn County faces a 62 percent rise in General Assistance cases since 1995 driving budget cuts. Starting Dec 1 the program shifts to one-time grants of 500 dollars for single persons and 750 dollars for families, with reductions in rent utilities and burial payments. Health Services also trims benefits as demand grows and 36 families hit the 1200 dollar annual cap.
