West High to Stop New Enrollments Until Further Notice
The Iowa City school board voted 7-0 to close overcrowded West High School to new enrollments starting next fall. First time district entrants will be assigned to City High on the east side. West High enrolls 1,838 this year, above its 1,800 capacity, while City High runs under capacity with 1,353 of 1,600. Overall district enrollment nears 11,300.

Westdale Mall Put In Receivership In Iowa City Area
Cedar Rapids Westdale Mall is now under a court appointed receiver after owner H N W Associates fell behind on payments. Tom Slattery Jr. of Heritage Property Management will keep the mall open with minimal tenant impact and may seek a sheriff sale within three months to satisfy the mortgage deficiency.
