Bluestem told to seal Hennessey wells amid land ownership dispute

DNR orders Bluestem Solid Waste Agency to seal 42 groundwater monitoring wells on the Hennessey property in southwest Cedar Rapids after Bluestem questioned who owns the land. Bluestem says only 15 wells are theirs and access requires permission from landowners William and Mary Hennessey, who were found by a prior court ruling to own the 425 acre site. DNR aims for sealing within 30 to 60 days amid ongoing negotiations and a stalled damage case with Bluestem.
