William Adams, former Cedar Rapids resident now in Des Moines, had sued Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids federal court for civil rights violations claiming bias in hiring for an assistant placement coordinator post in fall 1974. Judge Edward J. McManus granted summary judgment after Adams admitted in deposition he did not pursue claims over other jobs for women. The suit, initially filed in 1975 against a non existent entity and misnamed plaintiff, was dismissed as lacking basis for trial.
