Symphony Gives a Fine Performance by Les Zachels
The Cedar Rapids Symphony closed the Iowa Music Teachers convention in Coe auditorium with soloists Larry Day and Julia Denecke delivering strong performances. Day sang arias from Mozart and Giordano while Denecke drew enthusiastic ovation for Jacques Therlert Flute Concerto as the orchestra accompanied adeptly under Henry Penecke. The concert followed a busy day of vocal talent, piano pieces, and organ-choral sessions at the convention. The piece concluded with Mendelssohn and Mozart selections as the audience was left eager for more.

Cedar Rapids Children’s Theater Season Tickets On Sale
The Cedar Rapids Community Theater sells season tickets for adults and children for the current series. Tickets are available Wednesday and Thursday at Martin’s Iron from 9 to 5 and at Crasmer’s Lindale Plaza from noon to 3. Preseason sales occur before each performance of the first play Johnny. The season opens with Little Lee Bobo, with shows Friday at 4 30 and 7 30 and Saturday at 10 1 and 2 80. Tickets sold only before opening performances.
