CHICAGO hogs under 215 pounds steady to 25 cents higher, others weak to 50 cents lower as week closes. Prices listed for various weights and grades, with cattle and sheep shifts noted. Des Moines receipts and price ranges mirror mixed demand and regional activity.
Cedar Rapids hog market quotations for good No 2 butchers and sows were a quarter lower with plant delivered prices. Higher grade hogs could fetch up to 50 cents above the quotations while No 3s traded up to 50 cents below. Cows and bulls showed varying values and lambs and yearlings appeared in listed ranges.
The search for victims of the apartment house fire and explosion ended Thursday night as the 15th body was recovered from the ruins in Montreal.

Anna A. Dean, 101, died Saturday at 2 50 a m in a Marion nursing home. Born October 10 1857 in Circleville Ohio she was the widow of Civil War veteran Norman F Dean. Burial at Oak Shade cemetery follows a Monday 10 30 a m service at Murdoch chapel. She moved from Mt Vernon to north of Marion in 1954 and belonged to Norwood Christian Church. She is survived by son Harold Dean.
Mrs. Ernest A Kennedy, 79, of 487 Eleventh street Marion, died Friday night at a Cedar Rapids hospital. Born July 25, 1879 near Springville to George and Ann Ford Paul, she attended Cornell Conservatory of Music and married October 10, 1901 at Springville. The Kennedys lived in Marion for part of their married life.

Two men pled guilty to second offense drunk driving in Johnson county district court and were fined 500 dollars apiece. Ralph Duffy, 34, of Parnell, and Zollie Seals, 48, of Rock Island, had prior convictions in 1949 and 1955 respectively. Duffy was arrested Sept. 238 miles southwest of Iowa City on a county road. Seals was arrested Oct. 8 on highway 6 in Iowa City.
