Governor Visits Iowa Towns After November Tornadoes
About 150 of 746 residents in Woodward and Stratford were evacuated for gas leaks and allowed to return Sunday. Governor Vilsack visited the towns to offer condolences to Bunyan's family as Hamilton and Dallas counties were declared disaster areas. Tornadoes were rated F-2 with near 150 mph winds, causing structural damage in Woodward Stratford and the northwest Ames edge, with a farm near Gilbert damaged. No serious injuries reported as search dogs were deployed.
