Cedar Rapids board studies district scorecard plan
The Cedar Rapids school board will discuss adopting a district scorecard to track progress on five strategic goals. Superintendent Dave Markward will present about 40 indicators, including ACT participation, standardized test proficiency, AP enrollment, algebra in middle school, and attendance. The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the Cedar Rapids Educational Service Center boardroom, with a 5 p.m. work session, televised for local viewers.

College Community to set date for bond issue election
Cedar Rapids The College Community school board will hold a 5 p.m. special meeting at the Educational Service Center to fix an election date for a bond to build a new school and a fine arts auditorium. Officials plan Jan 24 for the vote. The project totals about 31 million for the school and 7.5 million for the Prairie High School auditorium.

Inmate Claims Sewer Backup At Linn County Jail
Jodie McAtee, a 35 year old federal inmate on drug charges, files two grievances alleging raw sewage backed up in her cell block on October 13 and 20 at Linn County Jail. She says meals were eaten with sewage on the floor and staff were slow to evacuate.
