Knife-wielding inmate injures four guards at Fort Madison
Four guards at the Iowa State Penitentiary were injured when inmate Calvin Sweat 24 Sioux City attacked in his maximum security cell with a homemade 7 inch knife. The guards Kevin Selters 23 Burlington Dean Sweet 24 Burlington Michael Kelly 37 Fort Madison and Michael Mathis 28 Plymouth Illinois were treated and released. Sweat was tearing up his cell in Cell house 18 before 9 30 p m and was placed in segregation pending disciplinary action. He is serving a 10 year sentence for second degree armed robbery.
