Vets families respond to films on Vietnam issues
A Vietnam veteran prompted by an Iowa Public Broadcasting Network program dialed a hotline to protest airing such material on TV. He joined a World War II veteran and a veteran’s mother in responding to three IPBN films about readjustment problems for Vietnam era veterans and their families.

Crime Prevention Coalition forms in Cedar Rapids
A broad coalition in Cedar Rapids unites groups from Citizens for Community Improvement to the Police Department to coordinate crime prevention. The goal is community wide action with shared projects for all ages, especially the elderly, through Neighborhood Watch and Operation I.D. programs. A second meeting is planned January 14 at 3 p.m. at the Witwer Senior Center.

Man fined for shooting turkey out of season in Iowa
Calvern J. Bellis, 26, of Waterloo, was fined 225 dollars plus costs in Allamakee County Magistrate Court after pleading guilty to taking possessing and transporting a turkey out of season. He was arrested Nov 1 by Conservation Officer Larry Moore in the Yellow River Forest. The incident occurred as there was no fall turkey season in the area and the shotgun season had closed. One hundred dollars of the fine goes to the Iowa Game Protection Fund.
