Lt. turned captain Katz led the 631st QM Depot Co in World War II and earned a Purple Heart after a July 1944 shoulder and hand wound. He recalls the Battle of the Bulge as the worst combat and notes saving a Polish ballerina’s family with sulfa drug aid. The Katz scrap yard family business continued after war. he refuses to trade the memories for any amount.
