Grant Wood Trail Becomes Linn County Asset
The Grant Wood Trail east of Marion, built by the Linn County Trails Association over seven years, has been donated to the county and is set to become a major scenic link in Linn County’s trail system. The group raised funds, purchased land, and developed segments totaling more than five miles, with plans for a 10 mile route to the Jones County line near Martelle and a connection to a separate Jones County trail. Volunteers and private funding funded the project, with Linn County Conservation now taking over future development. Keith Fletcher of Cedar Rapids serves as the association’s coordinator.
