CDC reports that women with normal Pap smears may delay follow-up up to three years safely. In a study of 128 805 women, precancerous lesions occurred at 25 per 10 000 for nine months to one year, 29 per 10 000 for one to two years, and 33 per 10 000 for two to three years.
