Cedar Rapids Sets Rigid Rules for Mobile Home Parks

Cedar Rapids plans a detailed mobile home ordinance nearing subdivision complexity. It requires five acres with eight units per acre, two-stage development, 25 foot yard separations, 2500 sq ft recreation areas, two parking spots per lot, paved streets, lighting, water supply and extensive upgrades for existing parks. Compliance costs may raise mobile home living expenses and aim to sharply curb transient trailer courts.
