Democrats lose last Southern legislature in Kentucky shift
Kentucky Republicans seized control of the state House ending Democratic hold on the chamber that began nearly a century ago. The GOP move follows Bevin’s 2015 sweep and party defections, with four seats flipping and Democrats losing the speaker’s job. University of Louisville analyst Jasmine Farrier links the loss to urban rural divide and cultural issues.
