A Las Vegas wedding party from Flagstaff Arizona was en route home after a postponed ceremony when Gayle Welch 24 Christine Welch 20 Irene Sneed 36 were killed and Winferd Sneed 45 injured in a single vehicle crash. The ceremony began at 8 30 a m but Christine delayed saying I do for four hours before the couple wed. Deputies said the car left the highway northeast of Las Vegas, crossed a creek bed and hit an embankment.

Bert B. Barnes, a longtime Iowa postal official, is named acting assistant postmaster general in charge of the bureau of operations. Barnes served as postal inspector in the Ottumwa area from 1947 to 1953 and has been deputy assistant postmaster general in the bureau of operations since 1957. His career also included aiding the German postal system’s postwar reorganization.
Grace Moon died Sunday at 415 Fourteenth St SE Cedar Rapids after a Cedar county birth in 1880. She operated a DeSmet South Dakota hotel from 1923 to 1946. She is survived by two sons Harold H and Kenneth D two sisters Rebecca Clark and Jessie Miller and a brother Peter Patterson. Services set for Wednesday at 1 30 in Turner chapel with Rev John P Woods. Friends may call after 1 Tuesday and donations to the Heart fund are suggested.
Rebecca Ann Roman daughter of Mr and Mrs George V Roman died Sunday of leukemia. Born December 17 1956 she leaves parents a brother George LeeRoy and sister Susan Lynn. Visitation Tuesday 7 p m in Kuba funeral home with Rosary, Mass of the Angels Wednesday at 10 a m St Wenceslaus Church. Burial at St Johns.

Fayetta Harrod, 60, of Olathe Kansas, stopped at an intersection when another vehicle struck hers. Police say the steering and accelerator locked causing her car to circle, throwing her under and beneath the wheels as it rolled over. She suffered a fractured pelvis and concussion. the other driver was not seriously hurt.
