Linn retains party balance in Statehouse races
In Linn County two newcomers entered the House delegations while overall party balance remained six Republicans and three Democrats. Jeff Elgin won House District 51, Gene Manternach took District 56, and both benefited from extensive door knocking. Republicans also held Districts 53 and 54 with unopposed Taylor incumbents and District 50 where Ro Foege defeated Christy Ann Welty. Senate races saw Mary Lundby win District 26. Republicans credited tax- and pension-related issues and higher teacher salaries as boosting wins.
